1. BEFORE INSTALLATION (PREPARING THE FRAME)

The original architrave around the door has been removed, to enable the creation of something which looks like a bookcase.

2. BUILDING A FRAME AROUND THE DOOR

With a frame made from simple MDF mouldings, the door is starting to be transformed. Note the plinth, matching the height of the surrounding skirting board has been fitted to the base of the door.

3. THE FINISHED FRAME

Door, woodwork and painting now complete, ready for the fitting of the spines.

 

4. FITTING THE BOOKS

Using the plans we provide, each section of books is glued into position, using a panel adhesive. We recommend Gripfil, which is available from any good DIY store.

5. HALFWAY FITTING

Starting at the base, check the size first, by doing a dry fit. Then glue each section and fit one row at a time. Take your time and enjoy the process.

 
   

6. FINISHED DOOR

Transformation complete, note the secret handle which has been concealed (third shelf up on the right hand side.) Yes it really is there, just look a little closer.
